The Gulch

Walking Tour of the neighborhood

The Gulch has the benefit of being owned primarily by one developer, MarketStreet Enterprises, and has therefore not been subjected to the fits and starts that developments with multiple stakeholders, such as Rolling Mill Hill, experience.

It is the first neighborhood in the South to receive "LEED for Neighborhood Development" certification from the United States Green Building Council.

The Gulch is a planned community with diverse retail, dining, office, and living opportunities.  The master plan is only one third of the way complete as of Februrary 2014.  This area is home to one of Nashville's famous and historic music venues, the The Station Inn.

Development Master Plan

The area of the Gulch is defined by Broadway, Interstate 40, and 8th Avenue. MarketStreet Enterprises worked in partnership with the city for improvements to infrastructure, roads, and utilities for the Gulch.

The Gulch Business Improvement District (GBID) was created in 2006 and is managed by the Nashville Downtown Partnership.

Spearheaded by MarketStreet Enterprises, it is funded by property assessments. The major functions are the Clean & Safe program, neighborhood beautification, community liaisons / education, and marketing, events & promotions.
